Volunteering opportunities

residents looking through photos with daughterIf you would like to make a difference to an older person’s life and have a little time to spare, we would really like to hear from you.

We offer a range of volunteering opportunities and we welcome volunteers in both our care homes and housing schemes.

Some of the activites you might want to volunteer to do are:

  • Chatting
  • Reading newspapers, books, poetry
  • Singing
  • Arts and crafts
  • Gardening
  • Games
  • Exercise
  • Quiz

These are just a few examples. We welcome volunteers to share their own skills, interests and hobbies.

Lady in red jumper calling bingo I volunteer at Saxonwood care home in Battle because I'm retired and can't sit on my hands all day! I call the bingo game once a week and support events at the home. I've been volunteering for some years now and it's a kind thing to do and I feel appreciated. The residents enjoy chatting and spending time with me.

If anyone is thinking about volunteering I think coming in to chat with the residents is a good starting point, you'll be made to feel welcome and the staff are very supportive.
