We welcomed an array of people from the local community to Saxonwood Care Home in Battle for a fantastic garden party in early July, to celebrate Care Home Open Week 2022.
There was fun for all the family as visitors took part in garden games and devoured the delicious cakes and refreshments. As part of this event, the staff and residents at Saxonwood created a wonderful new friendship garden, and visitors helped to grow the garden by planting their own flowers during the afternoon. This new space is an area for tranquility, reflection and togetherness, and one which our residents and their families will be able to enjoy in years to come.
Visitors to the event included Councillor Vikki Cook, Mayor of Battle, children from Battle Pre-School, representatives from Battle Baptist Church and many friends and relatives of our residents.
Care Home Open Week is a national week, celebrated by care homes up and down the country and the mission this year was to connect care homes back with their local communities.
Tracy Evans, Chief Executive of Sussex Housing & Care said: "Thank you to all of team Saxonwood for making this garden party happen for our residents and their families! It was uplifting to see everyone having fun, to see the children running around and blowing bubbles, to admire the friendship garden built by staff with stones decorated by residents, to see the lovely food produced by Tracie and her kitchen team, and to see our amazing caring staff and to welcome visitors from the local Battle community. Putting residents at the heart of what we do is important to us, and this event has been a wonderful opportunity to connect residents with the brilliant Battle community around us."
